— Community Service Officers set for salary boosts and enhanced prospects
On Saturday, President Dr. Irfaan Ali announced a commitment from the People’s Progressive Party Civic (PPP/C) government to generate an additional 1,000 jobs in Region One (Barima-Waini). During a public meeting held in Moruca, the president also revealed plans to raise the salaries of Community Service Officers (CSOs) and provide them with further educational opportunities to help them advance their careers.
Beginning his address by highlighting the investments made over the past five years aimed at benefiting the youth of Guyana, President Ali specifically emphasized the development initiatives targeted at the country’s Indigenous Peoples. He pointed out that approximately 60% of professionals in sectors like nursing and patient care hail from hinterland communities, underscoring the government’s focus on fostering talent in these areas.
“We will continue to provide more each and every year,” President Ali assured the attendees, reflecting the administration’s dedication to supporting and uplifting the community.
