The Centre for Local Business Development (CLBD) celebrated the conclusion of its 2025 ElevateAll Programme for tourism and hospitality on Friday, culminating in a Demo Day graduation event.
Hosted at CLBD’s headquarters in Georgetown, this significant occasion marked the completion of four months of rigorous training, mentorship, and business development strategies, which were conducted in two distinct phases. The programme was expertly guided by Leads Nicola Panday and Ron Glasglow, alongside Coordinator Cecil Maxwell.
During the event, Panday articulated the programme’s focus on enhancing Guyana’s tourism and hospitality sectors, pointing out their extensive reach across all regions of the country. She provided insights into the structured phases of the training.
Phase One featured an interactive two-day boot camp where participants engaged in peer mentorship, developed business models, honed their pitching skills, and discussed growth strategies. This progressed into Phase Two, a 12-week immersive experience with personalized mentoring and weekly sessions covering essential topics such as marketing, market sizing, and project management.
Participant Romain Persaud, Managing Director of Eco Destinations Guyana, expressed gratitude for the transformative tools and knowledge provided during the programme. Additionally, Dee George, President of the Tourism and Hospitality Association of Guyana, noted that the initiative enhances participants’ inherent entrepreneurial talents.
Kathy Smith from the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce underscored the necessity of understanding business challenges to thrive in Guyana’s promising economic climate. The ElevateAll Programme was supported by the Greater Guyana Initiative, with backing from ExxonMobil Guyana and other partners.
