Lisa Persaud, a dedicated teacher and single mother, is desperately seeking justice nearly a year after her 16-year-old son, Kaden Persaud, suffered a brutal attack in Kingelly, West Coast Berbice. Kaden, a student at Rosignol Secondary School, was assaulted by two boys, including a 15-year-old, in October 2024. The attack resulted in severe head injuries, requiring 42 stitches, and left him with lasting physical and emotional trauma.
In an emotional interview, Lisa shared the profound impact the incident has had on her sonβs well-being. “Since the attack, my son has become very agitated and withdrawn, no longer the joyful person he once was,” she said. She explained that a week before the assault, Kaden had an encounter with the 15-year-old, sparking tensions that led to the violent confrontation.
While Kaden was on an errand one day, he crossed paths with the assailants, who initiated the attack with a wooden plank and left him severely injured. Despite being in and out of consciousness, Kaden managed to return home but collapsed upon arrival, ultimately requiring urgent medical treatment.
“This is my baby, and I have worked hard as a single parent to raise him,” Lisa expressed, highlighting the struggles they have faced together. Since the attack, Kaden has experienced frequent headaches and required therapy, altering his once peaceful life.
Taking matters into her own hands, Lisa has reached out to authorities, noting that the 15-year-old has varied his accounts of the incident. Though the boy has acknowledged his actions, Lisa fears he remains free without consequences. “I just want my son to find justice and for the boy to receive the help he needs,” she stated, expressing her frustration with the ongoing delays in the case.
