Erin Patterson, a convicted triple-murderer, has revealed that she allegedly attempted to poison her husband on multiple occasions. The Australian woman was found guilty of murdering three relatives and attempting to kill another with a toxic mushroom-laced dish.
The court heard that Erin had tried to kill her husband Simon Patterson by feeding him poisoned food, including cookies claimed to be made by their daughter. However, the charges against Simon were dropped before his trial, leaving only his testimony as evidence.
Simon’s father, Don Patterson, a GP at the time, shared his suspicions with Erin, but she didn’t take action. It wasn’t until Don and his wife Gail became ill that Simon realized he was in danger too.
The pre-trial hearings revealed that police believed rat poison may have been used on at least one occasion. The plot thickened as three people died in hospital after a lunch on July 29, 2023, including Erin’s former in-laws and her sister-in-law.
Erin Patterson was found guilty of the murders and attempted murder charges against Simon were dropped due to pre-trial proceedings. The case has left a web of deceit and a trail of devastating consequences.
