Investment in housing infrastructure is on the rise in East Berbice, with a significant allocation of $14.8 billion aimed at constructing 6,000 house lots in Providence, Glasgow, and Overwinning.
The Minister of Housing, Collin Croal, highlights the importance of this initiative, stating that it will support the preparation of nearly 6,000 house lots for beneficiaries who were allocated land earlier this year.
According to a recent press release from the Ministry of Housing, the work involves land clearing, road networks, and drainage systems, divided into 25 lots awarded to various contractors.
Croal emphasizes that construction will commence in October, with completion expected by May, allowing beneficiaries to access their allocated plots.
The Minister also stresses the significance of meeting deadlines and prioritizing key elements such as main access roads to manage heavy-duty vehicles during development.
Furthermore, Croal shares the government’s long-term vision for the housing sector, noting that a portion of developed land will be set aside for future demand.
The project brings together various stakeholders, including Junior Bassant, Regional Chairman; Diyaiyyih Dwarka, CH&PA Regional Housing Officer; and engineers.
