Craig Sylvester, the founder of the Democratic National Congress (DNC), has raised serious allegations against the We Invest in Nationhood (WIN) party, claiming they have plagiarized his policies for their electoral manifesto without giving credit. This accusation follows a disappointing interaction where Sylvester offered to join WIN as a candidate on July 10. He detailed his interactions with key figures of WIN, including Natasha Singh-Lewis and Odessa Primus, who continually deferred discussions about his proposals.
Sylvester expressed frustration that a promised meeting never happened, leaving him to notice striking similarities between the DNC’s policies and WIN’s published ideas. He recalled his initial approach to WIN’s financier, Azruddin Mohamed, and how he shared a DNC brochure, hoping his proposals would be given serious consideration.
Despite submitting detailed documents at the party’s request, he was ultimately excluded from the candidate list by the nomination deadline. He noted his dismay upon finding DNC policies mirrored in WIN’s manifesto, suggesting a lack of originality in their political strategy.
Furthermore, Sylvester has raised concerns about WIN’s Presidential candidate’s ability to effectively communicate critical issues facing the nation. He criticized the candidate’s apparent dependence on others for guidance, suggesting that this poses a significant risk for the future of governance in Guyana.
