The leader of the Alliance for Change (AFC), Nigel Hughes, is facing criticism after Nakisha Sinclair accused him and the party of unauthorized use of her intellectual property. Sinclair posted on Facebook that the AFC incorporated several of her proposals into their election campaign without her permission, proper credit, or compensation.
She shared screenshots of communications and call logs indicating that Hughes and other party executives did not acknowledge her contributions regarding policies related to education, youth, environment, and sports. Sinclair claims she also provided Hughes with speechwriting and public relations services.
This situation arises as the AFC seeks to redefine its public image ahead of the upcoming September elections. Sinclair recounted her frustration in a letter, noting that after she submitted a draft, the party allegedly used her ideas on their ‘Future Forward’ program. Despite her notifying Hughes that he could not use her submissions—plans she had shared with AFC member Catherine Glasgow—there was no resolution.
Rather than receiving a response, Sinclair asserts that she was accused of attempting to extort the party for seeking compensation for her work. Additionally, she highlighted the hypocrisy of Hughes, who had previously advocated for an individual with similar grievances against the government.
