The son of Norway’s crown princess, Marius Borg Høiby, is under suspicion for three instances of rape along with 23 additional offences, as confirmed by police on Friday. Høiby, who is the stepson of Norway’s heir to the throne, was apprehended on three occasions last year—specifically in August, September, and November.
After a comprehensive 10-month investigation, law enforcement has passed the case to prosecutors to determine if charges should be filed, according to police attorney Andreas Kruszewski. Høiby’s lawyer, Petar Sekulic, stated that while Høiby is taking the allegations seriously, he generally denies any wrongdoing, especially concerning the sexual abuse and violence claims.
The 28-year-old, who lacks an official royal title or duties, has been under scrutiny since an assault suspicion led to his arrest on August 4, 2024. The Oslo Police District mentioned that their investigation included numerous witness interviews, extensive searches, and the analysis of considerable digital evidence.
During the autumn of 2024 and into spring 2025, Høiby was interrogated multiple times and allegedly cooperated with investigators. Among the reported offences are incidents of sexual misconduct, abuse in close relationships, and bodily harm. Some allegations had been set aside due to the statute of limitations and insufficient evidence.
The Royal House of Norway expressed in a statement their acknowledgement of the ongoing legal process, retaining no further comments at this time.
