A woman has been taken into custody in connection with the overdose death of a 39-year-old man, whose body was found in a tanning bed at a Planet Fitness in Indiana, three days after he entered the gym. The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) announced the arrest of 41-year-old Heather Bradford on charges related to dealing controlled substances that resulted in death, along with narcotics possession.
Authorities responded shortly before 8:30 a.m. on November 11 following reports of a body discovery within the gym. The deceased was identified as Derek Sink, who had not been in contact with his family since November 8 and was reported missing on November 10. The Marion County Coroner’s Office ruled his death a drug overdose.
Detectives from the IMPD’s Overdose Death Task Force (ODTF) traced the death back to Bradford, who was arrested the following day at a gas station without resistance. IMPD Chief Chris Bailey emphasized the complexity of these investigations, highlighting the importance of battling the ongoing overdose crisis and the commitment to seeking justice for families affected by such tragedies.
In response to the incident, Planet Fitness reiterated its dedication to member safety, indicating that they have established protocols and are cooperating with local authorities throughout the investigation.
