A week-long manhunt for a suspect in a deadly bar massacre in Montana has ended with the arrest of Michael Paul Brown, a 45-year-old Army veteran. Brown is accused of killing four people at The Owl Bar in Anaconda, Montana.
The victims, Daniel Edwin Baillie, 59, Nancy Lauretta Kelley, 64, David Allen Leach, 70, and Tony Wayne Palm, 70, were all from Anaconda and were patrons of the bar when the attack occurred. Kelley was a bartender at the time of her death.
Brown was taken into custody on Friday afternoon after an intense manhunt across central Montana mountains. The arrest was confirmed by Montana Gov. Greg Gianforte in a post on X, who praised the law enforcement officers involved in the search.
‘The Anaconda shooter Michael Brown has been apprehended,’ Governor Gianforte said in a statement. ‘Incredible response from law enforcement officers across Montana. Thank you to all partners for your commitment to the search. May God continue to be with the families of the four victims still grieving their loss.’
The motive behind the attack is not yet known, and Brown’s next court appearance has not been scheduled.
