
An art exhibition marking the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Italy opened in Rome on June 25, 2025.
Curated by Chang Shana, a professor at Tsinghua University, the exhibition features over 200 works from more than 100 esteemed Chinese calligraphers and painters, alongside notable Italian cultural artifacts from the Museum of Civilizations. This collection exemplifies the unique characteristics and shared attributes of both Chinese and Italian cultures.
The exhibition showcases traditional Chinese art forms, including calligraphy, cloisonné, bamboo carving, embroidery, Yun brocade, jade carving, and paper cutting. In contrast, it also includes precious Italian relics like traditional clothing, ceramics, and bronze items.
Prominent dignitaries, including China Media Group President Shen Haixiong and Italian Minister of Education Giuseppe Valditara, graced the event with their presence. The gathering of over 200 influential figures from various sectors underscored the significance of cultural exchange between the nations.
Shen emphasized that both nations, with their rich histories and vibrant cultures, have continuously learned from one another. The exhibition serves as a powerful testament to their long-lasting ties, demonstrating that art transcends time and acts as a conduit for mutual understanding.
Valditara highlighted the dynamic and multi-faceted cooperation thriving between Italy and China, particularly in culture, education, and film, strengthening the bond between their peoples.
