In a recent rally, Vice-President Dr. Bharrat Jagdeo implored Guyanese citizens to remain committed to the positive trajectory established by the People’s Progressive Party (PPP/C). He cautioned against entrusting their future to what he described as a “bunch of misfits,” referencing certain opposition groups and independent forces, particularly targeting US-sanctioned businessman Azruddin Mohamed.
With elections approaching on September 1, Dr. Jagdeo urged voters to resist being swayed by false promises or handouts from rival political entities. He criticized the newly formed ‘We Invest in Nationhood’ (WIN) party for plagiarizing PPP ideas and accused them of lacking the experience needed to govern adequately. He emphasized that trust in such parties could jeopardize the future of their children.
Reflecting on the difficulties faced during the APNU+AFC administration, including job shortages and neglect for farmers, he reminded voters of the PPP/C’s ongoing achievements since taking office, including job creation and improved access to education and healthcare. Dr. Jagdeo assured that the PPP/C government is dedicated to enhancing the lives of all citizens, regardless of background. He conveyed optimism about the country’s future, advocating for unity and participation in the upcoming elections to safeguard progress and foster continued development for all Guyanese.
