Sanctioned entrepreneur Azruddin Mohamed, who has not yet participated in a press conference or granted formal interviews regarding his presidential ambitions, stumbled during a recent encounter with journalists.
When queried about his Prime Ministerial Candidate, he hesitated before stating, “very shortly.” Similarly, he responded to inquiries about his campaign launch and a potential press conference with repeated phrases, saying, “very soon, very soon.” Regarding his policies, he emphasized, “We will put the policies out there shortly; just be patient.”
His priorities appeared vague, merely stating, “To invest in the people. To uplift the people,” without providing any further details despite reporters pressing for clarification.
Facing U.S. sanctions related to bribery and corruption, Mohamed affirmed that he and his newly established WIN party are prepared to participate in elections “even tomorrow,” although he struggled to articulate specifics about policies on energy, CARICOM relations, or economic diversification.
When asked to outline his top three policies, he faltered, unable to name even one. Acknowledging the impact of U.S. sanctions on his business dealings, he maintained that they do not hinder his political aspirations. As questions intensified, a supporter whisked him away, citing time constraints from the police.
This challenging interaction showcased the scrutiny facing Mohamed as he navigates both political ambitions and personal controversies.
