In an exciting comeback, the GTA Storm secured a 55-run win against Ramblers Rampage in the Ontario Masters Softball Cricket Clubs (OMSCC) Over-50 tournament held on Saturday at St Teresa Catholic School ground in Toronto. This victory marked a return to form for the reigning champions, who had previously lost their second match of the season.
Leading the charge was Ian “Russian” Baldeo, whose remarkable unbeaten century was complemented by Ken Itwaru, who scored a solid 66. After choosing to bat first, the GTA Storm amassed an impressive total of 195 runs for the loss of just one wicket in their 20 overs. Baldeo’s innings featured three fours and ten sixes, whilst Itwaru added five fours and four sixes before falling in the 19th over.
Despite facing difficulties with only eight players, the Ramblers Rampage put up a commendable fight, ultimately bowing out at 140 all out in 15.1 overs. Notably, Navindra Buchana again stood out for Ramblers, scoring 45 runs, while Richie Shivrattan added 25 to the total.
The tournament continues with further exhilarating matches scheduled, including GTA Storm’s next challenge against the Toronto Blizzards.
