Ballistic examinations have established that the bullet responsible for the death of 29-year-old construction worker Rondell Clarke was fired from an AR rifle belonging to a private security guard, as confirmed by the Guyana Police Force on Wednesday.
Clarke, who lived in Foulis on the East Coast of Demerara, was reportedly shot by the security officer on Sunday evening between 7:30 and 7:45 PM along Second Street. After the incident, police transported Clarke, conscious but injured, to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC), where, despite medical efforts, he was pronounced dead shortly after 8 PM.
During a post-mortem examination on Wednesday, investigators retrieved a damaged metal fragment from Clarke’s body, which was sent for ballistic analysis. Results confirmed the fragment was from an AR rifle assigned to Messiah Mussendeen, a security guard with Force Security Solutions. This weapon is now a critical piece of evidence in the investigation.
Additionally, a spent 9mm shell casing found at the scene was tied to a firearm assigned to another security guard, Devon Boucher, who was also present during the incident. However, authorities reiterated that the fatal shot came specifically from Mussendeen’s AR rifle.
Mussendeen, 25, was arrested after the shooting and remains in custody as the investigation progresses. The Guyana Police Force has committed to a thorough inquiry, ensuring that all pertinent evidence is examined to deliver justice for Rondell Clarke.
