In response to an impending rainstorm, the Beijing municipal government has raised its warning level to yellow, indicating a significant threat, and has implemented a citywide flood control emergency plan.
The Beijing meteorological observatory predicts substantial rainfall beginning at 5 p.m. on Thursday and lasting until 8 a.m. on Friday, with some areas potentially experiencing over 50 millimeters of rain per hour. Residents are cautioned about the increased risk of mountain torrents, mudslides, landslides, and flooding incidents in lower-lying regions.
At 11 a.m., the city’s flood control office initiated a third-level emergency response, emphasizing the need for residents to take precautions against short-duration intense rainfall and the associated risks of secondary disasters.
The hydrological and meteorological departments have issued specific warnings about potential flooding and mountainous hazards, urging the public to steer clear of waterlogged zones and mountainous areas during this period.
