Over the weekend, politician and lawyer James Bond joined the campaign efforts of the People’s Progressive Party Civic (PPP/C) in Region One, speaking to both business leaders in Kumaka and local residents in the Indigenous village of Tobago.
With a heartfelt connection, Bond reminisced about his upbringing in Mabaruma and highlighted his initial scholarship, which deepened his ties to the hinterland. He asserted that the only viable option for the residents of Region One is to support the PPP/C.
Bond referenced tangible advancements achieved in the past five years, including increased job opportunities for youth through the Pathway Programme and improvements in education and healthcare infrastructure. He emphasized the historic empowerment of Indigenous communities facilitated by the PPP/C, showcasing initiatives such as land title returns and financial benefits under the Low Carbon Development Strategy.
In his remarks regarding the Tobago community, established for those displaced by flooding, Bond commended the government’s efforts in creating a modern, supportive environment with schools, community facilities, and transportation resources.
He stressed that these developments were not mere coincidences, highlighting the consistent commitment of the PPP/C to Region One’s welfare. While criticizing those who only show up during elections, Bond called on voters to stand with the PPP/C come September 1.
Bond concluded by lauding the leadership of President Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali and emphasizing the PPP/C’s unparalleled vision and achievements across diverse sectors. He reiterated that the people of Guyana have only one choice to make — to support the PPP/C.
