An inspiring act of heroism unfolded in Chester, New York, when a police officer and two passing motorists banded together to rescue a 68-year-old woman trapped in a burning car. The incident occurred around 4 a.m. on Kings Highway, following a rollover crash.
Upon receiving reports of the fire, Officer Nicholas Contino was the first responder at the scene. He quickly assessed the situation and passed his fire extinguisher to a nearby motorist, who began extinguishing the flames. Meanwhile, Officer Contino broke through the vehicle’s glass sunroof to reach the trapped driver. Together with the two Good Samaritans and a paramedic from Empress EMS, they managed to pull the woman out of the raging inferno.
Fortunately, the victim, a resident of Warwick, NY, was rescued but suffered third-degree burns and was taken to a local hospital, where she remains in stable condition. Chester police expressed their gratitude towards Officer Contino, stating his actions significantly increased the woman’s chances of survival.
