
During the inauguration of the 2025 Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Digital Economy Forum in Tianjin, China, Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang emphasized the necessity of strengthening cooperation in the digital economy. Addressing the assembly, Ding highlighted the dual opportunities and challenges posed by digitalization and urged a collective effort to expedite the implementation of agreements made by SCO member states and the Global Digital Compact.
In his keynote address, Ding advocated for enhanced collaboration in the digital sector, encouraging better policy coordination and alignment of development strategies. He called for the utilization of platforms like the SCO Digital Economy Forum to invigorate growth within the digital economy.
Additionally, Ding stressed the importance of improving the connectivity of digital infrastructure, bolstering computation and data processing capabilities, and constructing a robust Digital Silk Road to foster a more comprehensive and reliable regional digital system.
The vice premier also underlined the necessity of sharing advancements in digital technology and expanding access to its benefits for all nations, facilitating equal opportunities in the fast-paced world of digital economic growth.
Finally, Ding urged for the creation of a collaborative multilateral digital security governance framework to enhance global cooperation and support the United Nations in leading technical governance and rule-making in the digital landscape. The forum welcomed around 600 participants, including government officials, corporate leaders, and academic experts from various regions.
