China and Russia Strengthen Strategic Collaboration

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi expressed that China is committed to collaborating with Russia to enhance strategic coordination and protect mutual security and developmental interests. These statements were made during a meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.

Wang affirmed that both nations’ leaders have consistently communicated, steering China-Russia relations through significant global transformations. He noted their recent phone conversation, in which they reinforced their shared stances on pressing regional and international issues.

Highlighting the importance of good relations, Wang mentioned that both China and Russia are vital dialogue partners within the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). He urged for increased strategic collaboration on East Asian initiatives, supporting an inclusive and ASEAN-centered regional framework, while contributing positively to global development efforts.

Lavrov echoed Wang’s sentiments, emphasizing the strategic importance of their relationship amidst current global circumstances. He reiterated Russia’s endorsement of ASEAN’s pivotal role in regional cooperation and the importance of collaborating against divisive actions from other major powers.

Furthermore, discussions included the Iranian nuclear issue, with Wang underscoring the necessity of dialogue over force. Both countries remain committed to upholding international non-proliferation efforts and fostering peace in the Middle East.

The dialogue also covered the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and various other mutual concerns, reaffirming the cooperative spirit between the two nations.
