The inaugural test event for the 2025 World Humanoid Robot Games launched in Beijing on June 28, 2025, marking a significant leap for China’s humanoid robotics capabilities. At the Beijing Smart E-sports Event Center, a revolutionary 3v3 AI football match showcased this competition, the first of its kind featuring autonomous robotic players and reflecting China’s growing status as a leader in the humanoid robotics field.
The RoBoLeague showcased robots that demonstrated not only intricate AI strategies but also capabilities such as real-time decision-making and teamwork, as well as self-recovery skills when falling. The seamless gameplay was facilitated by an optimized penalty system, enabling robots, standing between 1.2 to 1.5 meters tall, to mimic human-like maneuvers and strategies on the field.
Four finalist teams included the Blaze Team from Beijing Information Science and Technology University, known for their agile robots, Tsinghua University’s Power Intelligent Team with their precise passing, and the Mountain-Sea Team from China Agricultural University, recognized for their energy-efficient designs.
This event followed the remarkable feat of a humanoid robot half-marathon in April, highlighting significant advancements in robotic endurance and adaptability. The burgeoning humanoid robot sector in China is transitioning from theoretical concepts to practical applications across various industries.
Looking ahead, the 2025 World Robot Conference is set for August 8-12 in Beijing, where over 200 exhibitors, including leaders like Unitree and AgiBot, will unveil the latest innovations in robotics.
