China has successfully tested three different aircraft types on its new carrier, Fujian. The J-15T, J-35, and KongJing-600 have undergone electromagnetic catapult-assisted takeoff and arrested landing training, marking a significant milestone in the development of China’s aircraft carriers.
This achievement demonstrates that China’s fully domestically developed electromagnetic catapult and arresting systems are compatible with multiple aircraft types. The Fujian has obtained initial full-deck operational capability, paving the way for various carrier-based aircraft to join its formation.
The Chinese Navy has been rapidly advancing its carrier-based aviation capabilities in recent years, from single aircraft to integrated systems, from shore-based to shipborne operations. This latest breakthrough brings China one step closer to becoming a world-class naval force at sea.
Since its first sea trials in May 2024, the Fujian has conducted a series of maritime tests, progressing with equipment commissioning and assessments of overall operational stability.
