The lifeless body of Lance Corporal Stefon Tudor from the Guyana Defence Force was recovered today from the Cuyuni River. This unfortunate finding occurred two days after the soldier tragically fell overboard during a patrol mission at the Makapa rapids.
The remains are scheduled to be transported to the city later today. Initially, the GDF reported that Lance Corporal Tudor was engaged in a riverine patrol near the border of Guyana and Venezuela when the accident took place.
An immediate search operation was launched following his fall, but efforts yielded no results initially. The search continued into Friday and concluded this morning with the recovery of his body.
In response to this incident, the Guyana Defence Force has initiated a Board of Inquiry to thoroughly investigate the circumstances surrounding the event.
