As part of a growing movement to spotlight sustainability, a collection of eco-themed short films created by college students across China was showcased at Beijing Normal University’s Zhuhai campus. This event came in anticipation of World Environment Day on June 5, serving as a platform for young filmmakers to express their commitment to environmental issues.
The films, designed to enhance public consciousness regarding environmental protection, were carefully selected from around 280 submissions for the Refound Project, an initiative under the 32nd College Student Film Festival. Categories featured in the competition include Most Creative Work, Greatest Innovation Potential, and Best Welfare Documentary.
The announcement of this year’s winners will take place on June 10 during a special event known as Original Creation Night, part of the ongoing film festival. The Refound Project aims to cultivate relationships between emerging filmmakers and environmental advocacy.
Last year’s notable film, “Guranay,” gained recognition after being showcased during the 16th session of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (COP16) in 2024. Additionally, the Society of Entrepreneurs and Ecology Conservation (SEE) is collaborating with this initiative to identify remarkable young teams worldwide eager to share impactful environmental stories through innovative visual storytelling.
