
In a spirited gathering, President Dr. Irfaan Ali received enthusiastic support from the residents of Region Eight (Potaro-Siparuni) as he presented a comprehensive development strategy. This plan aims to significantly reduce air freight costs and expand banking services in the region.
During a public meeting in Mahdia, President Ali, accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister Brigadier (Ret’d) Mark Phillips and other candidates, emphasized the importance of economic empowerment and infrastructure development. He stated, “We have defined a clear strategy for the economic empowerment of Region Eight,” highlighting initiatives aiming to lower transportation costs and improve residents’ financial access.
To enhance service accessibility, the government is negotiating with local banks to install ATMs and outlets. This move will eliminate the need for residents to travel outside the region for essential documents like passports.
Additionally, President Ali outlined plans to increase electricity generation capacity. New generators and a solar farm are on the horizon, promising a more reliable power supply for residents, along with reduced electricity costs.
With investments exceeding $1.5 billion in healthcare, $4 billion in education, and $300 million in agriculture, the government is committed to improving infrastructure and fostering economic growth. Plans for new housing developments aim to empower citizens to achieve home ownership. “The PPP/C government sees you and is dedicated to your progress,” President Ali assured the community, reinforcing his administration’s commitment to serving all citizens.
