One year after the tragic death of Johnny Wactor, known for his role in “General Hospital,” his last film is set to debut at the 2025 Dances with Films Festival in Los Angeles.
The 37-year-old actor was fatally shot on May 25, 2024, during an attempted car theft in downtown Los Angeles. Investigators reported that Wactor was confronted by three suspects who were attempting to steal his vehicle’s catalytic converter when he intervened.
His final film, titled “Ciao, Mama,” was filmed in 2022 and is now ready for its premiere at TCL Cinemas on June 24. Wactor’s friend and fellow actor, Micah Joe Parker, emphasized the importance of preserving Wactor’s legacy through this film, which reflects themes of family and love, closely tied to Wactor’s character.
Wactor was leaving his job at Level 8, a rooftop bar, alongside colleague Anita Joy when the tragic incident occurred. Family members noted that Wactor instinctively stepped in to protect Joy, a fact that speaks to his courageous spirit.
Days after the incident, Joy shared her grief on social media, describing Wactor’s death as a senseless act of violence. She vowed to advocate for justice on his behalf, expressing a deep sense of loss and frustration over the circumstances surrounding his untimely death.
