During a recent graduation ceremony for the Guyana Online Academy of Learning (GOAL), President Dr. Irfaan Ali emphasized the government’s commitment to enhancing the future of the nation through educational investment. With around 580 graduates receiving Master’s degrees from ten universities, the President expressed pride in a moment representing not just individual achievements but a collective reinforcement of Guyana’s future workforce.
He affirmed, “Your government has invested in you for a successful path ahead,” highlighting that this educational initiative is crucial for harnessing the expanding opportunities in a rapidly evolving economy. Dr. Ali encouraged graduates to recognize the vital roles they play in various sectors—from engineering and healthcare to technology—emphasizing that development extends beyond infrastructure to the people capable of driving these advancements.
He noted that the government’s efforts in education reflect a strong belief in human capital, with Dr. Ashni Singh, Senior Minister in the Office of the President, revealing that over 39,000 scholarships have been awarded since 2020—twice the initial commitment. This marks a substantial financial investment, underscoring the importance placed on education as an equalizing force. Over the next year, 2,000 more individuals will earn degrees, expanding the pool of talent in Guyana.
As the country stands on the brink of economic growth, Dr. Ali urged graduates to leverage their newfound skills to embrace the opportunities ahead, reminding them that their success is the foundation for Guyana’s brighter future.
