Guyana has taken a significant step towards enhancing its air connectivity by signing an Air Services Agreement with Oman. The agreement, which was signed on September 22, 2025, aims to promote airlines operating flights between the two countries and other nations.
The move is expected to create opportunities for Guyanese airlines to expand their route network and improve competitive air transport services. With no direct flights currently available between the two nations, this agreement will provide market access for airlines to operate in Guyana and Oman.
Oman Air, one of Oman’s national carriers, operates in 22 countries and serves over 37 destinations worldwide. The agreement is expected to encourage interest from Omani airlines to consider including Guyana in their route network.
This new agreement complements the more than 50 Air Services Agreements Guyana has established with other ICAO States to develop air connectivity among nations. It also reflects the growing friendship and diplomatic relationship between Guyana and Oman, which was established on January 17, 1996.
