The Guyana Boxing Association (GBA) has achieved a significant milestone in its quest for global recognition, as it has been granted provisional membership by World Boxing, the International Olympic Committee (IOC)-recognised body for the sport.
This development is expected to provide Guyanese boxers with improved opportunities to compete at the highest level, including the World Challenge, World Cup, and World Championships.
The GBA’s President, Steve Ninvalle, expressed relief and gratitude for the recognition, but also acknowledged the lengthy wait time, stating that the process had caused inconvenience for his team.
