Exciting developments are underway in Guyana’s sports infrastructure, as a new boxing gym is set to be built at Angoy’s Avenue in New Amsterdam, Berbice. The project, valued at G$47 million, will provide a state-of-the-art facility for young boxers to hone their skills and reach their full potential.
The initiative is the brainchild of President Dr. Irfaan Ali, who has continued to demonstrate his commitment to promoting sports development across the country. According to Steve Ninvalle, Director of Sport, the new gym will not only enhance boxing in Berbice but also contribute to the growth of the sport nationwide.
Ninvalle believes that access to quality facilities like this is crucial for young boxers to succeed and highlighted the importance of President Ali’s investment in sports infrastructure. ‘This project is a testament to the President’s vision for sports in Guyana,’ he said. ‘He understands the vital role that sporting facilities play in developing athletes, and we are grateful for his support.’
The completion of this gym will further cement Berbice’s reputation as a hub for boxing talent, while providing the next generation of boxers with the tools they need to chase greatness.
