Rajiv Ramdeholl, a Guyanese residing in the USA, has stepped up to support “Project Cricket Gear for aspiring cricketers in Guyana.” This initiative, spearheaded by Anil Beharry from Guyana and Kishan Das from the USA, aims to equip young talents with essential cricket gear.
Ramdeholl, who serves as a Senior Vice-president and Mortgage Loan Originator, generously donated a pair of cricket shoes through Derek Kallicharran, a former West Indies ‘B’ all-rounder. He expressed admiration for the project’s impact and outreach to budding cricketers in Guyana, which inspired his contribution.
So far, the project has amassed an impressive collection of cricket-related donations and purchases valued at $630,000. This includes 13 colored uniforms, multiple pieces of sports gear, and numerous cricket bats, shoes, and protective equipment. A total of 99 players from all three counties have directly benefited, receiving a variety of cricket essentials, while many more have received indirect assistance.
The initiative ensures that both new and used cricket items are provided free of charge to talented youngsters in Guyana, emphasizing the importance of skills, discipline, and education. Additionally, club leaders play a crucial role in identifying promising players, particularly in well-structured cricket clubs with youth programs.
