The American Chamber of Commerce of Guyana (AmCham Guyana) and the Guyana Development Initiative (GDI) recently organized two significant encounters featuring Professor Joseph Fuller from Harvard Business School. These events aimed to tackle pressing workforce issues while enhancing the implementation of strategies within local businesses.
On June 18, Professor Fuller, a leading authority on management and workforce development, delivered a keynote address at the symposium titled “The Future of the Workforce.” His agenda included a roundtable discussion on “Strategic Implementation” the following day. As the co-director of the Managing the Future of Work Project at Harvard, his insights are particularly valuable in this context.
The symposium gathered over 150 participants, including AmCham Guyana members, government officials, and development partners, to explore transformative shifts in the work landscape. Professor Fuller discussed the significant impact of demographic changes on workforce dynamics, stressing the importance of productivity and talent competition. He also addressed the role of generative AI in enhancing productivity while highlighting the necessity for social skills and lifelong learning to navigate future work environments.
In the roundtable, senior business leaders deliberated on the complexities of strategizing and execution within organizations, actively engaging with Professor Fuller for tailored solutions to cultural changes, labor shortages, employee engagement, and digital integration.
These sessions form a part of AmCham Guyana and GDI’s efforts to foster payoffs in capacity building within Guyana’s private sector by connecting local enterprises with global expertise.
