Duarte Hetsberger, who previously served as the Personal Assistant to the controversial former Chief Elections Officer Keith Lowenfield, is now affiliated with Azruddin Mohamed’s political party. He played a significant role in overseeing the party’s nomination day activities, positioned alongside Mohamed.
Hetsberger was removed from his position in December 2021, following concerns about his prior three-year contract extension and allegations linking him to critical data deletions from GECOM’s computer systems. His actions allegedly came to light when the new GECOM CEO, Vishnu Persaud, initiated an investigation shortly after his appointment. Reports indicated that several computers managed by Hetsberger were found to have been wiped clean, and the explanations for these actions lacked credibility according to a report by Commissioner Sase Gunraj.
Both Hetsberger and Lowenfield are currently under police investigation as part of a broader inquiry into fraud allegations resulting from the 2020 General and Regional Elections.
