Dr. Bharrat Jagdeo, General Secretary of the People’s Progressive Party (PPP), declared that the party’s upcoming campaign launch is focused on genuine plans rather than mere “optics politics.” He remarked that the event will take place at the Kitty Market Square in Georgetown and is designed to showcase positivity and inclusivity.
At a recent press conference, Jagdeo highlighted the growing enthusiasm among supporters from all demographics across the nation. “Attendees will witness joyful people, not individuals coerced into participating. Our approach aims to unite all of Guyana, regardless of race,” he stated.
As the September 1, 2025 elections approach, more individuals are reaching out to party officials to help set up campaign materials, which he attributed to the party’s successful initiatives benefiting various sectors, including housewives, miners, rice farmers, public servants, and those with disabilities.
Jagdeo noted a significant shift, stating that local supporters in regions like South Georgetown are now independently organizing to put up party flags, a departure from past practices requiring central support. “We have much to discuss regarding our accomplishments and positive initiatives,” he asserted.
Contrasting the PPP’s strategy, he mentioned that the opposition party, APNU, struggled to gather substantial support, criticizing them for lacking concrete proposals and solely reiterating unfulfilled promises.
