Excerpts from a police interview of former GECOM deputy CEO Roxanne Myers were presented in court today, as the trial into the alleged rigging of the March 2020 General and Regional Elections continues. The video footage showed Myers being questioned by investigators about key incidents during the tabulation process, including a bomb scare at the Ashmins Building and a reported medical emergency involving the former Region Four Returning Officer.
During the interview, Myers repeatedly stated her right to remain silent. The trial is set to continue on Monday, September 22, when another police video interview involving Clairmont Mingo will be viewed.
The prosecution alleges that each defendant had a ‘critical role’ in the alleged endeavour to inflate votes for the APNU+AFC and deflate votes for the PPP/C. With approximately 70 witnesses expected to be called by the prosecution, the trial is expected to be a lengthy one.
