In the ongoing case against Bryan Kohberger, charged with the murder of four University of Idaho students, the witness list continues to expand. Two additional individuals from Pennsylvania, a jail guard and another man, have been summoned to testify. This includes William Searfoss, a correction officer from the Monroe County Correctional Facility, where Kohberger was held prior to his extradition. The details surrounding Searfoss’s expected testimony remain unclear, as his wife noted she did not know the reason for his summons.
Kohberger’s confinement at the facility has been characterized as largely uneventful, despite earlier reports suggesting that he had threatened guards, which Warden Garry Haidle has denied. Another individual joining the witness list is Anthony Somma, whose connection to the case is still being examined.
Interestingly, Kohberger attended a youth law enforcement program at Monroe Career & Technical Institute but was expelled following complaints from female students. A former school official reflected on this incident, noting how it foreshadowed Kohberger’s later actions. After his expulsion, he switched to an HVAC program, the field in which his father worked, before leaving a year later.
As Kohberger’s trial approaches in August, the court is set to evaluate whether the summoned witnesses must travel to Idaho to provide their testimonies. The emergence of these individuals, including his former coaches and advisors, indicates the case’s complexities and the defense’s strategy in a trial that has captured significant public attention.
