Ukraine’s capital, Kyiv, has seen its government building damaged in a rare direct hit from Russian attacks, according to the country’s prime minister. Yulia Svyrydenko stated that the structure’s roof and upper floors were affected due to an enemy attack, with firefighters working to extinguish the fire.
At least two fatalities were reported, including a baby under one year old and a young woman, in a separate incident involving a residential building hit in Kyiv’s Svyatoshynsky district. Rescuers are searching for a third potential victim.
Russia launched over 800 drones and missiles at Ukraine last night, with nine missiles and 56 drones targeting 37 locations, according to the Ukrainian air force.
Prime Minister Svyrydenko called for increased sanctions on Russia and expedited arms deliveries. The attack has also prompted Kyiv officials to urge residents to remain in shelters due to ongoing Russian aggression.
