French President Emmanuel Macron made an impromptu phone call to US President Donald Trump after a motorcade blocked his car, preventing him from reaching the French embassy in New York. Macron was attending the 80th United Nations General Assembly as part of a co-chairing role.
The unusual encounter occurred when police officers preparing for Trump’s motorcade obstructed Macron’s path. Video footage shows Macron speaking with NYPD officers outside his vehicle, seeking to ‘negotiate’ with them.
Despite the unexpected interruption, Macron and Trump discussed various topics, including organ transplants and potential solutions to extend human lifespan to 150 years.
The two leaders will meet in public for the first time during China’s military parade, marking a significant moment in their diplomatic relations.
