
On August 1, 2025, more than 2,000 officers of the Guyana Police Force (GPF) will finally receive the promotions they have long deserved, as announced by President Dr. Irfaan Ali during a recent visit to the Force’s Headquarters at Eve Leary.
In his address to the gathered officers, President Ali commended their unwavering dedication, emphasizing that the promotions are a recognition of their years of service and spotless conduct. The promotions will include advancements from Constable to Lance Corporal, Lance Corporal to Corporal, Corporal to Sergeant, and Sergeant to Inspector.
The announcement sparked jubilation among officers, many of whom expressed deep emotions and gratitude for the recognition of their hard work. One officer, who has served for two decades, exclaimed, “Thank you, Mr. President! I’m so happy, happy, happy—I can’t explain it!” Another remarked that the promotion is a personal milestone that will inspire them to serve even better.
Many described the moment as not only overdue but incredibly meaningful, expressing heartfelt thanks to the President and the Commissioner for making it happen. The promotions represent a vital morale boost for the GPF, honoring years of commitment to public service.
