In a significant enforcement operation, more than 300 undocumented immigrants were apprehended by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) during a raid on a cannabis farm in Ventura County, California. Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, Kristi Noem, announced on X that 319 illegal aliens were arrested, alongside the rescue of 14 children who were at risk of labor exploitation and trafficking.
This raid marks one of the largest single-state worksite operations in ICE’s history, only surpassed by the 2019 raids at a Mississippi chicken processing plant that led to numerous arrests. Notably, among those captured was an individual with a history of violent crime, including attempted child exploitation.
The rescued minors, reportedly from Mexico and Honduras, raise serious concerns about child labor practices at Glass House Farms, which is currently under investigation. The farm’s co-founder, Graham Farrar, has political ties due to his previous donations to various political figures.
The operation saw confrontations between ICE agents and protestors, leading to chaotic scenes, including the use of tear gas. Tragically, one individual lost their life after falling from a height during the raid. As tensions escalated, former President Trump condemned the protestors and defended ICE’s actions on his social media platform, emphasizing the need for law enforcement to maintain order in such circumstances.
