In a powerful show of gratitude, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz has praised the law enforcement agencies involved in the arrest of Vance Boelter, the man accused of shooting Minnesota lawmakers. Boelter was taken into custody after a tense two-day manhunt following the tragic shooting deaths of House Speaker Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark, at their Brooklyn Park residence.
Governor Walz and House Speaker Lisa Demuth highlighted the dedication of over 20 agencies that coordinated efforts to ensure justice. Demuth expressed relief at the capture, stating, “Iām grateful that this nightmare has come to an end with the suspect captured so he can be charged, prosecuted, & punished for the horror he has wrought on MN.”
During a press conference, Walz emphasized the necessity for unity in the face of violence, urging citizens to reject hate and instead embrace civility and understanding. He extended condolences to the family of the Hortmans, acknowledging the profound grief they are enduring, and praised law enforcement for their courage and professionalism in such a perilous situation.
