
On April 6, 2017, Moldovan President Igor Dodon and Prime Minister Pavel Filip held discussions with a visiting delegation from the Communist Party of China (CPC), led by Zhang Chunxian, a member of the CPC Central Committee’s Political Bureau, in Chisinau, Moldova.
During the meetings, Zhang emphasized the significance of this year, which commemorates the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Moldova. He highlighted that the understanding among the top leaders of both nations has been instrumental in nurturing bilateral relations and enhancing political collaboration.
Zhang expressed the CPC’s eagerness to strengthen political exchanges with their Moldovan counterparts and noted the opportunity presented by the Belt and Road Initiative to foster practical cooperation. He shared insights on the governing strategies adopted since the 18th National Congress of the CPC.
Both Dodon and Filip conveyed Moldova’s commitment to enhancing its relationship with China and expressed admiration for China’s impressive advancements following the CPC’s 18th National Congress. They recognized the complementary economic ties between the two nations and signaled Moldova’s readiness to engage actively in the Belt and Road Initiative, inviting greater Chinese investment in sectors such as agriculture and infrastructure.
As part of his visit at the invitation of the Democratic Party of Moldova, Zhang also consulted with various political leaders, fostering deeper inter-party ties.
