A Nashville mother is calling for accountability after her son was hospitalized due to a hit-and-run incident. Sheena Carach, a former police officer, is urging the alleged perpetrator, a Venezuelan illegal immigrant, to come forward after he struck her son, Zach Carach, on his 21st birthday and fled the scene.
Despite the circumstances of the immigrant’s legal status, Carach stresses the larger issue of responsibility. “It’s not about race or legality; it’s about humanity. When you hit someone, you stop. Refusing to do so makes you a monster,” she expressed to Fox News Digital.
The incident occurred on May 19 when Zach was crossing a street in Nashville. In the aftermath, police identified the suspect as 32-year-old Tony Lopez-Infante, who remains at large. Lopez-Infante, who entered the U.S. illegally in August 2023, is also wanted for other offenses, including violations related to theft.
Sheena Carach is frustrated that Lopez-Infante was able to rent a vehicle under such circumstances, highlighting that he had no driver’s license or insurance but was still granted access to a car. “There’s a lot of problems with that,” she remarked. The situation echoes concerns over current immigration policies and their implications for public safety, as voiced by various political figures following this tragic event.
