Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Charles Ramson Jr. has announced that the New Amsterdam Synthetic Track is nearing completion with 85% done.
The track’s construction was delayed due to four months of rain in April, but the weather has improved, allowing workers to focus on laying the synthetic material.
A representative from BSW company in Germany is currently assessing the completed works and will provide feedback on the facility’s quality.
Minister Ramson emphasized that the track will meet international standards and be classified as a top-tier facility, making it suitable for hosting international track and field events.
The laying of synthetic material is expected to take around five weeks, starting October 20, with completion anticipated by the end of November.
Other ongoing projects include work on the parking lot, driveway, and fencing, as well as the purchase of stands.
