In a bid to cultivate high-quality childcare and secure environments for children, the Ministry of Human Services and Social Security’s Childcare and Protection Agency (CPA) has introduced the “Enhancing Child Care and Early Learning Facilities and Development Services Grant” on a significant day dedicated to play.
The launch took place during the “International Day of Play- Play With a Purpose” event at Unique’s Daycare, Pre-school and Nursery School in La Parfaite Harmonie, West Bank Demerara.
During her keynote address, Minister of Human Services and Social Security, Dr. Vindhya Persaud, highlighted the need for equal investment in childcare facilities alongside human resources. This initiative aims to assist privately owned daycare centers in becoming models of excellence.
“I am excited to announce the rollout of the Childcare and Development Grant, which will benefit ten care centers across various regions,” announced Minister Persaud, noting that each center will receive $200,000 to elevate their standards.
The Minister further elaborated that the CPA team will continue to provide support and guidance, ensuring the advancement of all centers toward excellence. This ongoing grant initiative aligns with the government’s dedication to the holistic development and care of children, encapsulated in the mission to ensure that “Every Child Safe” is realized.
The annual grants will be awarded to those facilities meeting the specified criteria, solidifying the government’s commitment to enhancing early childhood development across Guyana.
