
At just 29 years old, Nicholas Pooran has announced his retirement from international cricket, marking the end of his tenure representing the West Indies.
The left-handed batsman, highly regarded in the global T20 scene, shared his decision on Instagram, stating, “After much thought and reflection, I’ve decided to announce my retirement from international cricket.”
During his career, Pooran played 106 T20 Internationals, scoring 2,275 runs with a top score of 98, and achieved 13 half-centuries at an impressive strike rate of 136. In One Day Internationals (ODIs), he featured in 61 matches, accumulating 1,983 runs, including three centuries and 11 half-centuries, with an average of 39.66 and a strike rate of 99.15.
Cricket West Indies expressed heartfelt appreciation for Pooran’s significant contributions to the sport, noting his status as the most capped West Indian in T20Is and the leading run-scorer in that format. His impact on the field and within the team has been profound.
