During a gathering in Bagotsville on Saturday, Opposition Leader Aubrey Norton encouraged his supporters to welcome assistance from any political faction, expressing that both the current PPP/C government and the emerging WIN party should not be disregarded. He reiterated the APNU+AFC coalition’s commitment to providing tangible solutions rather than mere handouts, stating, “Take what they have to offer… that is your money. But don’t let it blind you to the fact that we need change. A leopard can’t change its spots.”
Norton highlighted plans for establishing dialysis centres nationwide—a concept he claims was adopted after his original proposal—and criticized the current healthcare system for prioritizing infrastructure over quality patient care. “A hospital is not a building… it is the care you get inside,” he asserted.
In education, he vowed to reduce class sizes, enhance teacher training, and improve educator wages, while also calling for a national literacy initiative to combat illiteracy. On the athletic front, he promised to improve sports facilities and support for athletes representing Guyana.
Additionally, Norton proposed early childhood centres in every community and emphasized the need for reforms within the Guyana Police Force, ensuring accountability and justice. He concluded with a message for unity and inclusive governance, pledging equitable resource distribution among all ethnic groups and opposing any form of political division.
