Two key figures in the forestry industry have publicly endorsed President Dr. Irfaan Ali for a second term, praising the PPP/C administration for rejuvenating a sector that faced significant challenges under the previous government.
Lynette Benn, the interim Chairperson of the Linden Agriculture & Forest Producers Co-op Society, emphasized the substantial investments made in the forestry sector since the PPP/C took office in August 2020. She pointed out that poor policies from the former administration had previously led to a decline in the sector, adversely affecting community logging associations and small loggers.
Benn highlighted that the past five years have brought “tremendous growth” due to President Ali’s direct interventions, which have bolstered financial stability for community associations and stimulated local economies. She stated, “President Ali’s commitment to the forestry sector reflects an economic development strategy that engages communities and fosters a brighter future.”
Martin Klautky, Managing Director of Mariabo Investments Inc., echoed these sentiments, reminiscing about the positive changes brought by the government, including significant investments that enhanced local infrastructure and opportunities. He expressed support for the government’s proactive approach to industry issues, stating, “We need this continued progress, and I fully support President Ali and the PPP government for their ongoing dedication to our sector.”
