In a significant humanitarian operation, over 740 Chinese citizens have been successfully evacuated from Iran to Azerbaijan via the Astara border crossing, as reported by the Chinese Embassy in Azerbaijan by midday Friday.
The embassy had announced earlier this week the initiation of efforts to assist Chinese nationals either entering Azerbaijan from Iran or those transiting through the country to return to China. Thanks to collaboration with an association of overseas Chinese residing in Azerbaijan, the evacuees have been transported by bus to accommodations in Baku, while many have also secured immediate flights back to their homeland.
The embassy highlighted that more Chinese nationals continue to arrive at the Astara border crossing from Iran, and its dedicated on-site task force remains committed to providing comprehensive assistance to all incoming evacuees.
