In response to violent protests against Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Los Angeles, FBI Director Kash Patel has made it clear: those who assault law enforcement will face serious consequences. During anti-ICE riots in Paramount, California, federal agents were targeted, with their vehicles being damaged by rocks and debris. Patel emphasized, “If you assault a law enforcement officer, you’re going to jail—period,” regardless of one’s background or cause.
In light of the escalating violence, President Donald Trump has ordered the deployment of 2,000 National Guardsmen to assist federal agents in the area. Reports indicate that Border Patrol agents faced substantial danger, with one agent injured by a rock thrown through a vehicle windshield. U.S. Border Patrol Chief Michael W. Banks mentioned that the situation was grave enough that federal agents’ lives were at risk.
The protests, which have gained momentum over two consecutive nights, have resulted in numerous arrests for assaulting federal officers. Local officials, including DHS Secretary Kristi Noem, have similarly warned rioters of the legal repercussions they will face if they continue attacking law enforcement. Investigations are in progress to identify individuals involved in the violence, with Patel urging anyone involved to come forward before they are located.
